Finished this piece today and am really happy. I got some Maple Burl wood from a couple in Burton. Beautiful old tree taken down for power lines, lots of burl and figure in the wood. I turned this, end grain, live edge bowl, to preserve the burl on the edge of the tree trunk and cut down into a branch hollowing out the bowl. The live edge is the shape of the tree as it came off the trunk. The figure and burl patterns in this bowl are amazing.
